The most common question we are asked is "How do I wear this?" or "How do these attach?" . This page lists and describes the various attachment methods we currently offer at Sheaths Bark, and what situations each one is best for! Our goal is to try to make our products as accessible as possible for everyone based on their needs/circumstances. We understand that not everyone has a fullsuit, and some folks may want to use their accessories differently! If you still aren't sure which method is best for you, please reach out to us. Please be advised that some of these are available for commissions only. All of our premade accessories at cons are equipped with their standard method of attachment listed below, and safety clips are always available at cons too and can be included with commissions for no extra cost.
Magnets
Sheaths Bark uses high-quality neodymium magnets for this attachment method. Clients can request this method for sheaths and for vulvas. Due to the location where the magnet must be installed for sheaths, this method unfortunately means the wearer will not be able to use their own parts. The wearer may still use plush inserts or silicone toys, provided that the silicone toy can still be inserted through the top. Vulvas with magnets still allow for use. This method is best for sheath wearers who: do not have an SPH on their bodysuit and/or want to use their sheath solely for aesthetic purposes rather than functional use. This method is best for vulva wearers who may want to wear their vulva with clothes in which they do not want to use the alligator clips for, or fursuits with shorter fur near the crotch. This method is an additional $30 for sheaths and an additional $50 for vulvas, as twice as many magnets are needed. Both sheaths and vulvas with this option come with a magnetic pouch to sit behind the bodysuit/clothing.
Belt Loop (sheath standard)
By standard, all premade sheaths/sheaths sold at cons include a removable belt loop. This belt loop is made from elastic so that it can stretch over a belt. Both ends have sewn on hook fasteners (velcro) and loop fasteners (the soft part of the velcro) are adhered to the inside of the sheath. This allows the belt loop to be removed for easy cleaning and also allows the wearer to insert their own parts and/or silicone toys for play or further customization. This method is best for sheath wearers who: have an SPH on their bodysuit, fursuiters without a bodysuit, pups who want to wear a sheath with their hood, and individuals who might not mind a visible belt while unclothed or with clothes while wearing their sheath. This method is ONLY available for sheaths and does not cost extra.
Safety Pins
Safety pins are a free and easy method. Simply pierce the end through the sides of the sheath or vulva, through your bodysuit or clothing, and back through the sheath or vulva before closing it. It is important to pin your sheath or vulva to your bodysuit or clothes BEFORE putting on your bodysuit/clothing. This method is versatile and affordable and if done right, allows for use of the wearers own body parts or toys if desired. However, wearers must be careful to ensure the pins don't come unfastened during wear or play. There may also be a chance that the pins are visible up close.
Alligator Clips (Vulva Standard)
Alligator clips are metal or plastic clips typically designed for the back of hair accessories. This method is our standard method for vulvas as it more affordable than magnets and allows for the vulva to be discreetly clipped onto faux fur. If done right, it is possible to clip them onto clothing. This method may not be the best for those with extremely short fur on the crotch. This method can also be paired with safety clips. DO NOT clip onto pubic hair!
Adjustable Elastic Strap (Sheaths Only)
Elastic straps function similarly to a jockstrap; you will have an elastic band that goes around the waist and that connect around the thighs. We have designed these straps to be adjustable so the wearer can move the thigh straps to a comfortable position and adjust the waistband and thigh straps to be tighter or looser. Although adjustable, we still require measurements of your waist and upper thigh to ensure best fit. Be ready to provide these measurements in inches or centimeters! This method is only available for sheaths and is best for sheath wearers who: Have an SPH on their bodysuit, want to wear their sheath with the plush insert(s) and their own body parts/toys/wearables, want to wear their sheath while unclothed but don't want to wear a belt, or those looking for something with a bit more durability for a bit rougher play/intimacy. These can be added for an extra $50.
