Care Guide

So you just bought your first fursuit sheath, vulva, and/or t-dick. Whether it's just for spicy photos or during intimate play, you'll eventually need to wash it. So, how do you properly take of it and wash it?

These fursuit parts are typically best stored like most other fursuit parts. Brush them out before putting them away and before use, and make sure to store them somewhere out of direct sunlight and heat. It is best to keep any loose parts and attachment methods together when storing.

General Care

If your part is NOT magnetic, it can be washed in a washing machine! If you have a sheath, remove the tip from the sheath during cleaning, but be sure to clean the tip alongside the sheath. For best washing results, it's recommended you wash it either in a separate load, with like colors, or maybe even in a load with other fursuit parts if you have other fursuit parts that are machine washable. Use COLD water only on a DELICATE cycle with a COLOR SAFE detergent. It's recommended that you avoid fabric softener as it tends to leave a film/residue on faux fur. NEVER under ANY circumstance put your fursuit parts in the dryer as heat WILL melt and damage the fibers of the fur.

Washing

If your part IS magnetic, or maybe you just don't trust the washer or you're worried about putting elastics in the wash, the next option is to hand wash them. If you have a sheath, remove the tip from the sheath during cleaning, but be sure to clean the tip alongside the sheath. Find a clean bowl or bucket that's roughly twice the size of your fursuit part. This can also be done in a tub if you choose but to save as much water as possible, don't use more than you need. Fill it with COLD water and if it's a bowl or bucket, ONE teaspoon of color safe detergent. When it comes to washing fur by hand, a little detergent goes a LONG way. So in order to avoid leaving a film/residue on your fur, be sure to not overdo it with the detergent. Mix up the detergent in the water then fully submerge your fursuit part for about 10-15 minutes. When time is up, remove your part and GENTLY squeeze out excess water, DO NOT wring it out. Refill your bucket/bowl/tub with PLAIN and COLD water, NO detergent. Submerge your part for another 15-20 minutes, then remove and squeeze out any excess water. Repeat soaking in plain and cold water until all soap/detergent appears to be gone.

To dry your fursuit part, it is recommend you place it on some sort of towel and leave it to dry. You may use a fan to help speed up the process. Immediately brush out your fursuit part and be sure to brush it every 30 minutes until completely dry. For best results, leave any sheath tips and magnet pouches to dry separately. Remember to NEVER use any sort of direct heat, such as a clothes dryer or hair dryer, as heat WILL permanently melt and damage fur fibers.
